What is Enrichment Dog daycare? Enrichment Dog Daycare is structured Daycare that engages the senses and challenges a dog mentally while using purposeful play to encourage obedience and self-control.
Enrichment Daycare will be how you'd imagine pre-school for dogs. They’ll be moving every hour to a new activity to keep them engaged and on their best behavior! Activities like one-on-one play, toy time, water activities, free play, meal enrichment time, an agility course, nap time, and working on basic obedience skills individually as well as in group!! This is a great option for dogs that struggle in play all day daycare, dogs that need extra human attention, and dogs that need more structure.
Together we will come up with a schedule that works best for you and your dog. There will be one or two times a week options. All dogs will still be required to do an interview, as well as fill out a questionnaire, and be crate trained. Enrichment daycare for now will be $30 a day. It will be Monday-Thursday from 9AM-2PM (Subject to change during pilot) Play groups will be a max of 5 dogs in a group so spots will be limited. Upon drop off's we ask you bring some of your dogs breakfast/kibble/treats for us to use while they're here.
Enrichment toys and activities are designed to challenge dogs to think, problem-solve and stay active through brain games, challenging sensory work, and structured athletics and play. In a doggie daycare setting, the enrichment activities offer personal attention and help in reinforcing social manners and training. Besides free play, which is important too, structured games allow the dog to use instinct, skill, and physical abilities during purposeful play.
Dogs that receive high levels of exercise and physical and mental stimulation are less likely to engage in destructive or bad behaviors due to boredom. The energy that is directed toward positive, healthy experiences and productive training and playtime leads to better behavior in public and at home.
Enrichment is the opportunity to practice species-specific behaviors. For dogs, this includes: chewing, sniffing, foraging, shredding, digging, chasing, and licking. These are all behaviors that our dogs need to express, and providing the opportunity to do so through enrichment is vital to their care. It provides an outlet for your dogs natural behavior and it's lots of fun! These activities are designed to stimulate their mind and fulfill their biological needs. This helps with cognitive function and can cut down on unwanted behaviors.
